Been meaning to ask this. Been living here since 2017. Homes are going for about $1,171,900 on average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Am I wrong here?

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. food scene used to be much established but now it's hit or miss.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 12 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
