Hi all, Just moved here 8 months ago and Homes are going for about $241,500 on average. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What would you do? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in East for 14 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
legal is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is average - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. East schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Not very walkable outside downtown. And cost of living can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 6/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Bought a house here in 2023 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in West area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 4 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
