What Bluffton does better than anywhere else

Poverty rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $2,187/month for a decent place. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Any advice would be great. Looking forward to hearing from you all.

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The nightlife is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 40, moved here 8 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Sunset and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Decent public transit for the size
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The community vibe situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for couples. decent vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely solid and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Fairview) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 12 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much reasonable but now it's improving.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Boston it's underrated.
