Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Uptown) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Eastside. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in retail. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Dallas about 5 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is average.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 2 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..
