I'm retired and Poverty rate is 6.4%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,267 for rent here. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Let me know your thoughts.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

I'm a contractor and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a physical therapist, 51, moved here 6 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in The Heights and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Summers can be brutally hot
3. The school system situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- The Heights: Great for retirees. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $90K-$120K here.
**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Bought a house here in 2022 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone about the same since then.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to Tampa it's hit or miss.
