Best and worst neighborhoods in Boise City

Random thought, Born and raised here. Homes are going for about $456,000 on average. With a population of 236K, Boise City is a mid-size city. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Thoughts? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Miami about 5 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is solid.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
