Hey folks, Born and raised here. Median household income is $81,308, which feels pretty solid for the area. Average temperature is around 53°F, so expect cold winters. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. Does this match your experience? The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The nightlife is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Oak Park area are underrated. Kids love it here.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to Tampa it's tough.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Used to live on the East side, now on the Highland side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.
