Commute times in Bolingbrook -how bad?

Hey everyone, I grew up here but left for a while. Crime rate is something to consider -Bolingbrook sits at 163.1 per 100K. Poverty rate is 7.1%, which is pretty low. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Has anyone dealt with this? Cheers. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 3 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Houston about 14 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Denver about 12 years ago. The main reasons were work and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is challenging.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

I'm a physical therapist and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is solid and there's always something going on.

I've been here 10 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Moved here from Portland about 14 years ago. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Still getting used to nightlife but No regrets on my end..
