Commute times in Bolivar -how bad?

Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What are your go-to spots? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 41, moved here 7 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in North and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The dating scene situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for remote workers. solid vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $90K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Seattle about 5 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is average.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Miami about 2 years ago. The main reasons were family and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2018 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone about the same since then.
