Hi all, We're a young couple and It's a a small town city with about 13,336 people. Homes are going for about $902,200 on average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. Am I overthinking this? The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Chicago about 7 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is challenging.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Hope this helps!.

I've lived in South for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
- The public transit scene is solid
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'm a electrician and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. The community is tough and there's always something going on.
