First post here. We have two kids and Crime rate is something to consider -Bonita Springs sits at 77.0 per 100K. The median home value here is around $460,600, which is pretty steep. Household incomes average around $90,486 in Bonita Springs. You can expect to pay around $1,809 for rent here. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Would love some local perspective. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I work in healthcare here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is better than expected. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is solid in most areas.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

Bought a house here in 2017 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Oak Park for 8 years. Moved from Chicago for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
finance is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is average - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Oak Park schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And job market can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 7/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
