Boone in the winter -how bad?

The unemployment rate is 1.1%, which is pretty low. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Am I wrong here?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 13 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Seattle about 10 years ago. The main reasons were school and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
