Top 5 things I love about Boone

Hey everyone, Been living here since 2023. With a population of 19,534, Boone is a small town. Household incomes average around $28,633 in Boone. The median home value here is around $373,600, which seems about average. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Great weather
- Nice parks and trails
- Easy commute

Cons:
- Limited nightlife
- Limited dining options
- Lack of diversity
- Few job opportunities in some fields
Am I wrong here? The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much competitive but now it's hit or miss.

Came here for retirement and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The food scene is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Midtown for 4 years. Moved from Phoenix for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Road conditions need improvement. And nightlife can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 8/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've lived in Springfield for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The nightlife scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 6 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in West area are challenging. Kids love it here.
