Rent vs buy in Borger -what makes sense?

Anyone else feel this way? Been living here since 2008. With a population of 12,398, Borger is a small town. Rent is about $833/month for a decent place. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cheers. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Charlotte about 11 years ago. The main reasons were weather and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
