Alright, Born and raised here. Rent is about $1,097/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $192,300 on average. The unemployment rate is 3.2%, which is pretty low. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Worth the trade-offs? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. school system used to be much competitive but now it's tough.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in South. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in tech. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Midtown. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in retail. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Definitely worth checking out..

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in East for 3 years. Moved from LA for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
finance is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is solid - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. East schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Road conditions need improvement. Limited entertainment options. And job market can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 7/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Houston about 3 years ago. The main reasons were school and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good internet infrastructure
- The cost of living scene is average
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Winters are long and cold
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 12 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
