Rent in Bothell East getting crazy

OK so You can expect to pay around $2,181 for rent here. Has anyone dealt with this? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

I've lived in Eastside for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- The food scene scene is average

The downsides:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Highland area are underrated. Kids love it here.

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in Old Town for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- The housing market scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Urban sprawl is real

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely excellent and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Uptown) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much reasonable but now it's decent.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 8 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in East for 8 years. Moved from San Francisco for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. East schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Dating scene is rough. And healthcare can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 5/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
