Hello, Just moved here 9 months ago and You can expect to pay around $1,924 for rent here. Poverty rate is 5.9%, which is pretty low. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Charlotte about 15 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is decent.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
- The healthcare scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good airport with direct flights
- The pet-friendliness scene is decent
The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Came here for school and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 14 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
