Why I chose Boulder over bigger cities

Longtime lurker here, You can expect to pay around $1,924 for rent here. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Any advice would be great. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to San Francisco it's improving.

Bought a house here in 2020 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 3 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The traffic is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is solid in most areas.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Greenfield for 1 years. Moved from Denver for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Not very walkable outside downtown. And safety can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 7/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 6 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Riverside for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- The cost of living scene is average

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Winters are long and cold

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
