Is Bourbonnais still affordable?
I grew up here but left for a while. With a population of 18,109, Bourbonnais is a small town. Rent is about $1,132/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $242,600 on average. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.
Pros:
- Friendly people
- Nice parks and trails
- Good airport connections
Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Limited public transit
- Not very walkable
- Limited dining options
- Chain restaurants dominate
Any advice would be great. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.
