Should I move to Bourbonnais or stay in Raleigh?

Been meaning to ask this. Crime rate is something to consider -Bourbonnais sits at 291.0 per 100K. With a population of 18,109, Bourbonnais is a small town. You can expect to pay around $1,132 for rent here. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Let me know your thoughts. Appreciate any input. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 5 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Minneapolis about 7 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good internet infrastructure
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is underrated.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Feel free to reach out with questions..
