First post here. I'm single, late 50s, and Household incomes average around $44,674 in Bowdon. Homes are going for about $172,700 on average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Worth the trade-offs? The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much established but now it's underrated.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Highland. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in legal. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I work in healthcare here and it exceeded my expectations. The job market for my field is better than expected. No regrets on my end..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a marketing manager, 34, moved here 9 years ago from New York. I've lived in Eastside and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The job market situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for singles. excellent vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Miami about 8 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is average.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for work and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The food scene is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
