Crime rate is something to consider -Bowie sits at 99.8 per 100K. The median home value here is around $442,000, which is pretty steep. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Is this normal for Bowie? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Charlotte about 12 years ago. The main reasons were weather and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is excellent.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from San Diego about 6 years ago. The main reasons were family and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in West for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
- The healthcare scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Hope this helps!.
