What I wish I knew before living in Bowling Green

I'm a remote worker and The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Is this normal for Bowling Green?

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely pretty good and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Uptown) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Houston about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is decent.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Bought a house here in 2019 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Boston about 1 years ago. The main reasons were school and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is challenging.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Good luck with whatever you decide..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Seattle it's challenging.
