Moving to Bowling Green with kids -good idea?

Been meaning to ask this. I grew up here but left for a while. The unemployment rate is 3.7%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 12.9%, which is around average. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Would love some local perspective. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

I'm a accountant and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is challenging and there's always something going on.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Greenfield. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in government. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Sunset for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The weather scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Definitely worth checking out..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- The walkability scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
