The good and bad of living in Bowling Green

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. Median household income is $46,719, which feels on the lower side for the area. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Am I wrong here?

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 6 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Riverside. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in real estate. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 5 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Used to live on the Sunset side, now on the North side. Completely different vibe. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
