Best industries in Boynton Beach right now

Longtime lurker here, I work in insurance and Rent is about $1,896/month for a decent place. Median household income is $71,378, which feels about average for the area. With a population of 80,601, Boynton Beach is a smaller city. The median home value here is around $312,700, which seems about average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Any advice would be great. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I work in retail here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
- The nightlife scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a teacher, 38, moved here 13 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Midtown and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good internet infrastructure
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The public transit situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for couples. decent vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $40K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 7 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into running, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Lakewood. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in tech. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Definitely worth checking out..

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
