Cheapest neighborhoods in Bozeman?

Curious what people think. I've been here for 18 years and The unemployment rate is 2.2%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,611/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 44--F, so bundle up in winter. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. What would you do? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 15 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Highland for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good airport with direct flights
- The cost of living scene is tough

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. No regrets on my end..
