Been meaning to ask this. You can expect to pay around $1,475 for rent here. With a population of 56,289, Bradenton is a smaller city. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. What do you all think?

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a pharmacist, 58, moved here 6 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Highland and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Decent public transit for the size
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Can feel isolated
3. The school system situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for couples. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$140K here.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The traffic is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 5 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
