Hi all, Born and raised here. Rent is about $1,691/month for a decent place. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Anyone in a similar situation?

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options
- The walkability scene is average
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 10 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in The Heights. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in construction. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
