Most overrated things about Brass Castle
Hey folks, Crime rate is something to consider -Brass Castle sits at 154.8 per 100K. Should I be concerned?

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Oak Park. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in retail. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in East area are challenging. Kids love it here.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The pet-friendliness is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Diverse dining options
- The community vibe scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Bugs and humidity in summer

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. housing market used to be much affordable but now it's pretty good.
