Best neighborhoods to rent in Brea?

Alright, Military spouse here. The median home value here is around $874,300, which is pretty steep. Average temperature is around 68--F, so the weather is moderate. Median household income is $124,837, which feels pretty solid for the area. You can expect to pay around $2,285 for rent here. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Friendly people
- Low taxes

Cons:
- Cold winters
- High property taxes
- Far from major airports
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Not enough green space
There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 31, moved here 4 years ago from Atlanta. I've lived in Meadowbrook and The Heights, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited shopping options
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The school system situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for remote workers. excellent vibes, walkable.
- The Heights: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Atlanta, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 38, moved here 5 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Dating scene is rough
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The pet-friendliness situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for retirees. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $100K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Denver about 5 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.
