Bought a house here in 2020 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Eastside. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in real estate. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Definitely worth checking out..

I work in marketing here and it exceeded my expectations. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Highland. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely excellent and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Downtown) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Uptown. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in legal. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

No regrets on my end..
