Brenham quality of life -am I missing something?
Alright, Born and raised here. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Any advice would be great.

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great craft beer places. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Came here for school and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The pet-friendliness is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely challenging and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Fairview) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
