Working in Brenham -salaries realistic?

I'm a teacher here and You can expect to pay around $1,087 for rent here. With a population of 18,086, Brenham is a small town. Poverty rate is 13.0%, which is around average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Would love some local perspective. Cheers. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Raleigh about 1 years ago. The main reasons were family and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are wild, gas is challenging.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Feel free to reach out with questions..
