How is Brent for outdoor activities?

Hello, Rent is about $1,074/month for a decent place. It's a a small town city with about 23,441 people. You can expect to pay around $1,074 for rent here. Household incomes average around $45,708 in Brent. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

The food scene here is solid. Tons of great BBQ places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 3 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a writer, 33, moved here 13 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in East and Oak Park, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Good healthcare facilities
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The job market situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for retirees. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Oak Park: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $50K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

**What I love:**

3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**

2. Rising rent and home prices
3. The job market situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for singles. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$140K here.
