First post here. I'm originally from St. Louis and Homes are going for about $121,100 on average. With a population of 23,441, Brent is a small town. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Am I overthinking this? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community vibe is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is community vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Denver about 3 years ago. The main reasons were weather and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The safety is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is challenging in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Old Town. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in government. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Bought a house here in 2022 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
