I'm a college student here and I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Am I wrong here?

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The job market is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Uptown area are excellent. Kids love it here.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Riverside for 15 years. Moved from Miami for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
retail is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Riverside schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Far from beaches/mountains. And walkability can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 8/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 3 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
