I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Does this match your experience?

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights
- The job market scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Minneapolis about 11 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Rising rent and home prices
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is better than expected.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 8 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been here 14 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. job market used to be much manageable but now it's decent.
