Relocating to Brewster, OH -pros and cons?

Hey, Poverty rate is 5.7%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $56,953 in Brewster. Crime rate is something to consider -Brewster sits at 92.7 per 100K. Homes are going for about $133,200 on average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Am I overthinking this? The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from San Diego about 12 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods

Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 3 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Riverside for 4 years. Moved from Boston for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is tough - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Riverside schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Can feel isolated. And community vibe can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 8/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
