Hey folks, Average temperature is around 60--F, so the weather is moderate. The unemployment rate is 5.3%, which is about average. Median household income is $154,583, which feels pretty solid for the area. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Am I wrong here? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 12 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is community vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community vibe is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
