Random thought, We're a young couple and Rent is about $1,405/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 18.3%, which is higher than I expected. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Any advice would be great. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Eastside. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in marketing. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The food scene is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
