Moving from Los Angeles to Bridgeport next month

Curious what people think. Born and raised here. The median home value here is around $91,400, which is actually reasonable. Homes are going for about $91,400 on average. Poverty rate is 22.1%, which is higher than I expected. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Thoughts? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 26, moved here 1 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in South and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The outdoor recreation situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for remote workers. solid vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Nashville about 1 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is tough.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Pine Hills. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in engineering. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in tech. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want dating scene, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in North for 9 years. Moved from Charlotte for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
legal is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is tough - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited shopping options. Limited entertainment options. And housing market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 9/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
