OK so I grew up here but left for a while. Poverty rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,227 for rent here. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Miami about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are growing, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've lived in West for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport with direct flights
- The safety scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Hope this helps!.
