Thinking about relocating to Bridgeview from Memphis

So, Rent is about $1,139/month for a decent place. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Should I be concerned? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely improving and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (South) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely better than expected and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Highland) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The school system scene is decent

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.
