Hello, I'm originally from Nashville and Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. The unemployment rate is 2.9%, which is pretty low. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Am I wrong here? Thanks! Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in North. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Indian.
Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 2 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
