Hey everyone, Median household income is $151,593, which feels pretty solid for the area. Poverty rate is 11.0%, which is around average. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What do you all think? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (The Heights) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Denver about 14 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is better than expected.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Definitely worth checking out..

I work in consulting here and the quality of life is solid. The job market for my field is solid. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
