Remote worker thinking about Bristol

Been living here since 2012. Homes are going for about $252,300 on average. Household incomes average around $83,458 in Bristol. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Let me know your thoughts.

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is housing market. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I'm a real estate agent and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. the quality of life is solid.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in construction. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Hope this helps!.

Bought a house here in 2020 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 46, moved here 5 years ago from Atlanta. I've lived in Meadowbrook and West, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Four distinct seasons
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The safety situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for couples. decent vibes, walkable.
- West: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Atlanta, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Chicago it's improving.

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. school system used to be much developing but now it's underrated.
