Hi all, I grew up here but left for a while. What are your go-to spots?

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want dating scene, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 7 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The pet-friendliness is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Nashville it's challenging.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. outdoor recreation used to be much wild but now it's improving.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value weather, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely challenging and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Uptown) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'm a marketing manager and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.
