I've been here for 1 years and You can expect to pay around $1,846 for rent here. Average temperature is around 76--F, so it's warm year-round. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is average in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Chicago about 9 years ago. The main reasons were work and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Rising rent and home prices
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is improving.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Used to live on the Downtown side, now on the Maple Ridge side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The pet-friendliness is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
