Job market in Brockton for tech?

Curious what people think. I've been here for 11 years and Poverty rate is 10.2%, which is around average. Rent is about $1,545/month for a decent place. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Am I wrong here? Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Uptown. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in real estate. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 13 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Denver about 7 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Close to major attractions
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Chicago about 14 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is decent.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Phoenix it's average.
